As a book blogger I often am on the prowl for new books. In particular, I love books that are popular as it leads to interesting conversations with my friends! These are the books that I am excited about that are debuting in June 2017. Some of these books I have been hearing about for months and now they are finally here!

The People We Hate at the Wedding: A Novel by Grant Ginder – June 6th 2017

A novel about family, this book has caught my eye as a funny take on the dysfunction that can happen around big events. When the youngest sibling in this novel gets married chaos ensues as her family comes to town (that town being London!). Coming from a large family myself, I look forward to reading how this family navigates some of the most important moments while under the stress of seeing each other (gulp!).

Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud: The Rise and Reign of the Unruly Woman by Anne Helen Petersen – June 20th, 2017

As a woman in American culture, I am aware of the trend in our celebrity women of being more and more unruly. This book interests me as it breaks down what that means and how those trends have taken over. As they say “Well Behaved Women Rarely Make History”. I hope this book shows the strength and dominance women can have in the face of being ‘too much’.

Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too: A Book by Jomny Sun – June 27th, 2017

If you follow Jomny Sun on Twitter (@jonnysun) you know the type of bittersweet humor that he graces us with. I look forward to seeing what he has to say in his book because he gets so easily to humanity through pretending that he’s an ‘aliebn’ on social media. Seriously, even if you don’t think about reading the book, at least go look at his twitter. You might find some of the most amazing comfort in only 160 characters.

My Life with Bob: Flawed Heroine Keeps Book of Books, Plot Ensues by Pamela Paul – June 13th, 2017

Much like The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin, My Life with Bob is a book about books. I have loved books all my life and am fascinated by how reading can be such a personal experience but how we often share it with others. The act of reading has greatly shaped my life and I cannot wait to dig into this novel about someone like me!

  1. This is an interesting post! I am on my journey to make 12 books this year (haha little goal but I am happy and excited about it anyway) and I am on a hunt for good books. Thank you for the “Too Fat, Too Slutty, Too Loud” recommendation, it’s on my list now! 🙂
